Drug & Alcohol Rehab Serving Matthews, NC
Archangel Centers is bringing founder-led, clinically grounded outpatient addiction treatment to the Matthews area, the closest community to our new Charlotte-area program in east Mecklenburg County.
Outpatient addiction treatment coming to Matthews
Matthews (28105) sits in southeast Mecklenburg County along Independence Boulevard and US-74, about 30 minutes from Uptown Charlotte and right on the edge of Union County near Stallings, Weddington, and Indian Trail. It is a family-centered town: close enough to Charlotte's support networks and employers, yet quieter and more settled, which makes it a natural home base for outpatient recovery. Archangel Centers is bringing its Charlotte-area program to the Matthews community.
Our model is outpatient: Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient care, designed so clients keep living at home while attending structured clinical treatment. We will also provide integrated dual diagnosis care for clients managing both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition.
A family-centered base for recovery
Matthews and the surrounding east Mecklenburg communities see a substance-use profile weighted toward opioids and heroin, fentanyl, and alcohol, often in family-centered situations where a parent, spouse, or adult child needs treatment that does not pull them out of their household. Outpatient care fits that reality.
- Day and evening IOP tracks for clients balancing work and family
- PHP for those who need intensive daily structure before stepping down
- Standard outpatient for ongoing accountability and relapse prevention
- Dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring anxiety, depression, or trauma
- Coordinated detox and residential placement with accredited partner facilities when needed

Close to Charlotte, settled enough for healing
Matthews offers a genuine differentiator for outpatient clients: it is close enough to Charlotte support networks and major employers, and peaceful enough to focus on healing. The Independence Boulevard and US-74 corridor connects Matthews to the broader Charlotte metro, so clients can reach treatment, work, and family without a long commute.
Because Archangel's North Carolina program is opening soon, exact location and local contact details will be published as they are finalized. In the meantime, our admissions team can answer questions and begin planning at (888) 464-2144.

- Co-occurring depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions
Insurance and NC Medicaid
Under the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, major insurers must cover addiction treatment comparably to other medical care. North Carolina also expanded Medicaid in December 2023, broadening coverage for substance use treatment across the state.
When our Charlotte-area program opens, our admissions team will verify benefits for free and explain exactly what your plan covers. Call (888) 464-2144 to start a conversation now.
