Dr. Justin Skolnick, DO
Medical Director
"In medicine, skill is important, but compassion is essential."
Dr. Justin Skolnick, DO, serves as Medical Director at The Archangel Centers, overseeing all medical dimensions of client care. His training spans emergency medicine and behavioral health, a combination that matters in addiction treatment: the ability to assess a patient quickly and accurately, and the clinical foundation to manage the psychiatric complexity that so often underlies substance use.
Dr. Skolnick conducts initial medical evaluations for all incoming clients and maintains ongoing medical oversight throughout treatment. His clinical responsibilities include managing Medication-Assisted Treatment protocols (Suboxone, Vivitrol, Sublocade), handling psychiatric medication management for co-occurring conditions, and making clinical-safety decisions across admissions, programming, and discharge planning. He also coordinates with outside medical providers when a client's care extends beyond the program's walls.
His emergency-medicine background shapes how he approaches initial patient contact: rapid, accurate assessment, clear determination of appropriate level of care, and a structured response to complexity. He intentionally builds the medical encounter to feel safe rather than rushed, recognizing that many people arriving at treatment have had impersonal or unsettling experiences in medical settings. That deliberate design, creating physical, mental, and emotional safety in the room, is part of the clinical architecture at Archangel.
