Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino
Co-Founder and Recovery Ambassador
"Lived experience opens the door. Licensed clinicians carry the work. That's the operating principle of The Archangel Centers, and it's why this works."
Mike Sorrentino, widely known as Mike "The Situation" from his time on MTV's Jersey Shore, is the co-founder of The Archangel Centers and one of the most visible recovery advocates in the United States. His story is not a brochure version of recovery. He lived addiction in public, faced legal consequences in public, and built his sobriety in public. Today he maintains over 10 years of active recovery and channels that lived experience into the program he built.
Mike is not a figurehead. He participates in group sessions, engages directly with clients on the floor, and makes himself available in ways that most treatment founders do not. That hands-on presence is intentional: when someone in early recovery sees a person who has been exactly where they are, who lost nearly everything and rebuilt it, the message lands differently than it does from a clinician who has only studied the disease.
He co-founded Archangel Centers with Lauren after recognizing that the program he needed during his own recovery did not exist: a center that combined real clinical rigor with the kind of human understanding that only comes from having lived through it. He has authored three books on recovery and personal reinvention and regularly delivers keynote speeches at recovery-focused events across the country. He lives in Tinton Falls and Charlotte with Lauren and their three children: Romeo, Mia, and Luna.
